Jordan, Saudi Arabia sign $163 mln grant agreement

Jordan and Saudi Arabia on Monday signed a 165 million U.S. dollars grant agreement, the state-run Petra news agency reported.

Jordan's Minister of Planning as International Cooperation Imad Fakhoury said the grant will be used to finance projects in the field of infrastructure and to help Jordan provide services to Syrian refugees in the country.

Jordan and Saudi Arabia also signed 53 million dollars soft loan agreement to finance energy projects.

The minister voiced appreciation to Saudi Arabia, saying the funds will support strategic projects.

In 2011, Saudi Arabia pledged to provide Jordan with 1.25 billion dollars in grants over a period of five years. Endit
