India registers 7.4 pct growth in July-September quarter

India registered a 7.4-percent growth of its GDP in the second quarter of the current fiscal year from July to September, official statistics showed on Monday.

Higher activity in manufacturing as well as services sectors are major contributors to the growth, higher than the 7.1 percent during April-June quarter but lower than 8.4 percent of the same quarter in the last financial year.

Local media said acceleration in economic growth will come as a boost to the government of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Endit
