Myanmar's opposition National League for Democracy (NLD) will set up a body to regularly inspect its elected parliament representatives.
U Tin Oo, chairman of the Central Committee for Winning the General Election and patron of the NLD, said at a meeting here Saturday that NLD will tighten its discipline ahead of leading the next term of the parliament.
He urged the representatives to work for change in accordance with what the party campaigned in the election.
NLD Chairperson Aung San Suu Kyi summoned the meeting attended by the party's elected parliament representatives in Yangon.
The NLD won an absolute majority in the election, strong enough to form a new government independently under the constitution.
According to Suu Kyi, the party's elected parliament representatives' private assets will also be regularly inspected during the five-year term of parliamentary office.
She urged the representatives to work hard for the people and cut their high salaries to show sympathy on the poor who voted them in the election.
Suu Kyi also called for giving training to the representatives especially in English language education to boost their English level in foreign dealing and constitution-related training as well as giving priority to ethnic representatives.
Suu Kyi warned of taking actions in accordance with law against party's representatives on probable violation of laws.
Saturday's meeting gathered the party's elected parliament representatives from regions and states including Yangon, Tanintharyi, Mon, Rakhine, Kayin, Bago and Ayeyawaddy.
The next similar meeting between Suu Kyi and the party's elected parliament representatives from the remaining regions and states will take place on Dec. 5 in Nay Pyi Taw's Pyinmana, according to the NLD.
The present term of the parliament and government will expire at the end of January and March 2016 respectively.
Presidential run will take place in early February. Enditem
