The Finnish women's team beat host Denmark 10-8 to take the bronze medal at the European Curling Championships, in western Denmark's Esbjerg on Friday.

The two teams played each other in a tight game and the score was tied at 1-1 in the second end. Finland's skip Oona Kauste played a hit and roll to score 1 point in the third end, and hit out a Danish stone to score 4 points in the fifth, to be ahead 6-3 by half-time.

In the sixth end, Denmark's Lene Nielsen drew to score 2 point that reduced Finland's lead to 6-5. However, the Finns scored 3 points straight in the seventh and eighth ends, increasing their advantage to 9-5.

Denmark held its nerve to collect 3 points in the ninth end. In a tense tenth end, Oona Kauste drew her final stone to score a fabulous 1 point and win the game by 10-8, the first time a Finnish women's team has won a medal at the European Champs since 1997. Endit
