Sweden and Switzerland made it to the men's final at the European Curling Championships, in western Denmark's Esbjerg on Friday.

One of the men's semifinals on Friday afternoon saw defending European and current world champions Sweden beat last year's silver medalists Norway 8-7 in extra time.

After the first two ends Norway took the lead with 2-0. However, Sweden's skip Niklas Edin drew his final stone into the house to score 3 points in the third end, overtaking the lead 3-2. The Swedes went on to score 2 points straight in the fourth and fifth ends for a 5-2 lead.

In the seventh end, Norway's skip Thomas Ulsrud drew to score three points and level the game at 5-5. The teams were tied at 7-7 after the regulation ten ends and a score of one by Sweden in the extra end finally gave them an 8-7 win.

Finland beat Switzerland 10-4 in the other semis. Switzerland's skip Benoit Schwarz scored three points to have a 4-1 lead in the third end, before he scored another three on the way to the victory.

The tournament took place in the Granly Hockey Arena and the Esbjerg Curling Club from Nov. 20-28. The finals are scheduled for Saturday. Endit
