Foreign, border missions of Slovak police to get 300 additional officers

Xinhua, November 28, 2015 Adjust font size:

The foreign missions of the Slovak Police Corps will be strengthened by an unprecedented additional 300 police officers, Slovak Police Corps president Tibor Gaspar said Friday.

A database of police officers will be compiled in order to find out which of them meet the essential conditions such as fluency in English or another foreign language and knowledge of international codes concerning Schengen and the presence of police units abroad.

"They will be police officers ready to be deployed as soon as any requirement appears," stressed Gaspar.

Of the 300 police officers, 100 will be assigned to foreign and border police offices, with the remaining 200 redistributed among other offices. District police departments in areas bordering Hungary, Poland and the Czech Republic should also be strengthened. If needed, these police officers will be sent abroad.

The police officers will fulfil various tasks -- from patrolling the external Schengen border on the Hungarian-Serbian border to administrative tasks such as registering migrants. Police officers from foreign and border police departments are being trained for such activities. Endit
