Girl raped by asylum seeker in S. Finland

A 14-year-old girl was raped by a young asylum seeker in Raisio, southern Finland, the Southwestern Finland Police Department said on Friday.

The incident happened on Tuesday, one day after a similar case happened in the country.

The 19-year-old suspect, who has been in Finland as an asylum seeker for about one year, was detained by police on Wednesday.

The police did not disclose the nationality of the suspect.

Earlier on Monday, another 14-year-old girl was raped by a 17-year-old Afghan asylum seeker in Kempele, northern Finland.

Later Monday, Finnish Prime Minister Juha Sipila met with his cabinet members to review legislation on crimes committed by foreign citizens.

Finnish New Agency STT said there have been about ten similar cases, in which the alleged offenders are asylum seekers in Finland. Endit
