The Nepali government has asked India to launch an early investigation into Wednesday's incident where four Nepali nationals were injured by bullets fired by Indian border force in Terai region of Southern Nepal bordering India, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said here in Kathmandu on Thursday.

While urging the Indian authorities to check such actions in future, Nepal's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has requested the government of India for an early investigation into the incident and strong action against those involved.

"It has also requested for sharing the findings of the investigation," read the press statement by the ministry.

According to the statement, this matter has been brought to the attention of the Indian government through Embassy of India in Kathmandu, expressing grave concern over the entry of the SSB personnel into the Nepalese territory and use of firearms against unarmed Nepalese civilians.

The ministry has said that serious attention was drawn to the incident that occurred on Wednesday at around 6:20 am, 100 meters inside Nepal from India-Nepal No Man's Land at Hariharpur Village Development Committee in Nepal's Sunsari District.

In the press statement, the ministry said that four locals, namely Ashok Yadav, Naresh Yadav, Manoj Yadav and Saroj Yadav were injured by the bullets fired by Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) personnel in a dispute between them and some individuals.

Earlier on Wednesday, the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu claimed that no Nepali nationals were injured in firing by the Indian border force. Endit
