Spanish treasury places 2.34 bln euros on market

The Spanish treasury placed on Tuesday treasury bills valued at 2.34 billion euros (2.49 billion U.S. dollars) on market, which registers a high demand of 7.750 billion euros.

A total of 1.945 billion euros worth of nine-month treasury bills carried an average interest rate of minus 0.073 percent, compared to the minus 0.006 percent of the previous issue.

The placement also included 395 million euros worth of three-month treasury bills that fetched an average interest rate of minus 0.229 percent compared to the minus 0.081 percent of the previous auction held in October.

So far, the Spanish treasury has placed around 133 billion euros of medium and long term debt on the market, which represented 95.7 percent of the country's financial goals for the year. (1 euro=1.06 U.S. dollars) Enditem
