Xinhua, November 24, 2015 Adjust font size:

China's five-time world champion and dual Olympic gold medalist Lin Dan has vowed to be on his game when the Rio 2016 badminton test event begins on Tuesday.

The 32-year-old is the marquee name for the event at Riocentro, which also serves as the second Yonex Brazil Grand Prix.

He said he would "definitely" be representing China for the fourth time at an Olympic Games next August.

"I have great expectations. I'll do my best," Lin was quoted as saying by Rio2016.com on Monday.

The November 24-29 event will include 90 athletes from 24 countries, including 56 men and 34 women.

The format of the competition will replicate the Olympics, with a round-robin group stage to be followed by knockout matches.

Lin, considered one of badminton's greatest ever players, will be aiming for a hat-trick of Olympic gold medals next year having triumphed in Beijing in 2008 and London four years later.

He has been drawn in Group A of the test event alongside Slovak Matej Hlinican and Brazilian Igor Ibrahim. Endit
