Kenyan runners showed good form as they dominated most of the races in the 2015 MTN International Marathon which took place on Sunday.
Eliud Cheptei won the 42.195km race when he broke away from the lead pack with four kilometers left to reach the finishing line at the Kololo Airstrip in a time of 2:19:55 minutes.
"I thank God for this achievement because I finished second last year," Cheptei told Xinhua shortly after the race.
Another Kenyan Joseph Biwott came second, while Uganda's Peter Kibet third with a time of 2:20:09.
The women's race was an all-Kenyan affair as Real Kimaiyo clocked 2:47:55 to win. Her fellow Kenyan runners Joe Kimao and Rosina Kibonya came second and third respectively.
Charles Kwemoi from Kenya won the men's 21km race, while Isaac Kipsang (Kenya) was second and Uganda's Felix Chemonges came third.
