Cameron to meet Hollande in Paris on counter-terrorism issues

Xinhua, November 21, 2015 Adjust font size:

British Prime Minister David Cameron will meet French President Francois Hollande in Paris on Monday to talk about counter-terrorism issues, BBC said on Saturday.

They will discuss how to cooperate to fight against IS, also known as ISIS or ISIL, in Syria and Iraq.

Hollande will also meet Russian President Vladimir Putin, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and U.S. President Barack Obama next week, according to BBC.

The United Nations Security Council endorsed unanimously a resolution calling for countries to take all necessary measures to combat the unprecedented threat from IS on Friday night.

Cameron said the UN vote "shows beyond doubt the breadth of international support for doing more in Syria and for decisive action to eradicate" IS.

He is seeking cross-party support for British air strikes against IS, though there is no timetable for a Parliamentary vote.

Senior figures from all the main parties in Westminster said the resolution would increase the chances of MPs endorsing British air strikes on Syria, The Times said. Endit
