Albania in positive growth track: Eurostat

Xinhua, November 20, 2015 Adjust font size:

Albania is in a positive growth trajectory for a second consecutive year, Albanian Minister of Economy Arben Ahmetaj said Thursday, citing Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union (EU).

The "Greek" scenario did not happen and it's the second year now that Albania's positive growth trajectory had been confirmed by Eurostat, said Ahmetaj.

The Albanian government had undertaken four reforms respectively in the fields of energy, macro-economy, anti-informality and administration, which brought about this growth trend, Ahmetaj said, admitting that the country's economy did not have the pace that the government expected.

Referring to official statistics of the Bank of Albania, the minister said that the available incomes of Albanians had increased by 7.4 percent, while their savings increased by 15.8 percent.

Noting the country's consumption had a lower growth, he said the government had decided to reduce taxes for small businesses in the next fiscal budget. Endi
