Chinese trampoline team to strive for Olympic slots

Xinhua, November 20, 2015 Adjust font size:

The Chinese trampoline team, spearheaded by Olympic champions Dong Dong and He Wenna, left Beijing on Friday for Denmark to participate in the World Trampoline Championship.

The championship, which serves as one of the qualifying tournaments for next year's Rio Olympic Games, is scheduled to be held in Odense, one of the oldest cities in Denmark, from Nov. 25 to 28.

China will strive for gold medals in 10 categories, including individuals and groups, but the implementation of the new rules would pose a big challenge for the Chinese team, which won five gold medals in 2014 World championships.

"The new rule allows maximum three players from a team to advance to the top eight. The old rule allows four," said Li Ge, trampoline official from the General Administration of Sports of China.

"Though it is challenging for us to strive the berths for Rio Olympics, we'll try our best to do it," Li added. Endi
