Xinhua, November 20, 2015 Adjust font size:

Chicago, New Jersey, Houston and Seattle are among 10 US cities that will host matches during next year's Copa America centenary edition, officials said on Thursday.

Each venue will stage at least three games on multiple days throughout the tournament, to be played from June 3 to 26.

The cities were chosen from 24 candidates and all boast stadiums with seating capacity of at least 60,000.

It will be the first time that football's oldest continental competition is staged outside of South America.

The tournament, which will also be played outside of its normal quadrennial cycle, will feature all 10 teams from South America's CONMEBOL confederation and another six from their northern CONCACAF neighbors.

"The 10 host cities of Copa America Centenario 2016 will provide the perfect stage to unite the American continents in a unique celebration of the football history and talent in the regions," CONCACAF president Alfredo Hawit said.

The host cities are: Bay Area (Levi's Stadium), Chicago (Soldier Field), Foxborough (Gillette Stadium), Houston (NRG Stadium), New York/New Jersey (MetLife Stadium), Orlando (Orlando Citrus Bowl Stadium), Pasadena (Rose Bowl), Philadelphia (Lincoln Financial Field), Phoenix (University of Phoenix Stadium) and Seattle (CenturyLink Field).

CONCACAF teams to have already booked a berth in the tournament are Mexico, the USA, Costa Rica and Jamaica.

Panama, Cuba, Haiti and Trinidad and Tobago will compete for the two remaining spots at a January tournament in Panama. Endit
