Vietnam will severely punish its Internet users to upload contents that stir up terrorism and extremism, the Vietnamese minister of public security has said.
Many counterfeit Facebook accounts and pages have appeared on social network, claiming they are members of the Islamic States (IS). Some have uploaded pictures and videos of the IS's executions.
Vietnamese Minister of Public Security Tran Dai Quang has issued a document requiring relevant authorities to closely monitor mobile and Internet accounts to impose serious punishment upon those responsible for counterfeit Facebook pages inciting violence, terrorism and extremism.
Quang also expressed his concerns that international security and safety have been increasingly compromised, supported by the fact that several terror and cyber attacks have targeted the aviation sector in many countries, asking related authorities to work with airport managers to tighten security and closely monitor the situation in airfields.
Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung wrote an article Thursday to mark the first day the country accessed the global Internet on Nov. 19, 1997, calling on all people to act as the citizens with high sense of responsibility when using social network and the Internet. Enditem
