Sri Lanka says U.S. envoy's upcoming visit to strengthen ties

Xinhua, November 20, 2015 Adjust font size:

The United States Ambassador to the UN, Samantha Power, will arrive in Sri Lanka on Saturday for a three-day official visit, the Foreign Ministry said here Thursday.

Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Mahishini Colonne told journalists that Colonne will be arriving in the island nation with a main objective to strengthening the U.S.-Sri Lanka partnership.

During her tour, Power will also visit the former war-torn north of the country, and meet local government officials, organisations and the communities affected by the 30-year civil conflict.

In the capital, Power will hold discussions with Sri Lankan president, prime minister, foreign minister, community leaders, civil society and youth. Endit
