Macedonia minister calls for enhanced public awareness to protect disabled people's rights

Xinhua, November 20, 2015 Adjust font size:

Macedonian minister of labor and social policy Frosina Tasevska-Remenski called for comprehensive state support and raising public awareness to achieve the rights of persons with disabilities here on Thursday.

Tasevska-Remenski made the comments while attending an international United Nations (UN) conference on disabled people's rights and their effects on national legislation and policies.

The aim of the conference was to discuss disabled people's experience among government officials, national experts and NGOs in the region.

"Achievement of the rights and opportunities of persons with disabilities is our mutual commitment, of the state, the citizens and the society," stated Tasevska-Remenski, Macedonian International Agency reported.

In June 2015, a forum on professional training and employment of people with disabilities was held here to focus on inclusive hiring practices across Macedonia, the role of assistance technology in professional training, as well as the importance access to daycare centers for people with mental disabilities who are developing their working skills.
