Lin Dan knocked out of Hong Kong Open

Xinhua, November 19, 2015 Adjust font size:

Chinese badminton legend Lin Dan, 32, was knocked out of the second round of the Hong Kong Open by his 21-year-old opponent Ng Ka-long on Thursday.

It was the first meeting of Lin and the young Hong Kong shuttler, who won the duel 21-8, 21-18 in 33 minutes.

"I think I am quite patient today and I am calm in doing some net shots and some lifting so I can better control the game. I think he didn't play his best today, so I can have a chance to beat him," said Ng.

Lin, a two-time Olympic champion and five-time world champion, won Super Series title in Japan in September, but failed to get past the first round of the French Open last month. He is aiming for next year's Rio Olympics.

The Hong Kong Open Badminton Championship is one of the Badminton World Federation's line-up of Super Series events with an impressive grand prize of 350,000 U.S. dollars.

The Open is held from Nov. 18 to 22.  Endi
