CPC official urges officials against flaunting wealth

A senior disciplinary official of the Communist Party of China (CPC) has warned CPC members not to flaunt wealth -- even if it is obtained legitimately.
The Party is against extravagant purchases and lifestyles that go beyond what can be afforded by normal citizens, said Zhang Jun, deputy head of the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI), during a video interview screened on the CCDI website on Wednesday.
The official made the remarks in response to a request for comment on Party members buying luxury cars and watches with their own legal income.
Such practices undermine the Party's images, and it "will not leave them unchecked," Zhang said.
He cited CPC regulations banning extravagance and hedonism and said CPC members violating the rules may receive punishments ranging from warnings to removal from their posts. Endi
