U.S. national accused of involvement in 2008 Mumbai terror attacks

Xinhua, November 18, 2015 Adjust font size:

An American accused of being involved in the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks was summoned by an Indian special court on Wednesday to appear before it next month.

The court asked David Coleman Headley, who is serving a 35-year prison term in the United States after pleading guilty to links to the Mumbai attacks, to appear on Dec. 10 by video-conference.

The Mumbai Police told the court that it wanted to interrogate the American in the case.

Headley has confessed to being a member of the banned Pakistani terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba and doing a recce of the Mumbai landmarks before the massacre.

Over 170 people were killed and more than 300 others injured in the deadly Mumbai terror attacks carried out by 10 Pakistani militants who entered the financial capital via sea route from Karachi.

Only one Pakistani terrorist, Mohammed Ajmal Amir Kasab, was caught alive in the terror attacks, but he was executed in 2013 after being convicted of waging war against the state and other charges.

Pakistan has denied any involvement in the attacks though India insists it has given enough proof to Islamabad to show that the massacre was masterminded and controlled from that country's soil. Endit
