Ex-cabinet official, Coca Cola executive missing in helicopter crash in Nicaragua

A former Nicaraguan cabinet official and a high-level Coca Cola executive was missing after the helicopter they are aboard crashed into a river in southern Nicaragua on Tuesday.

"Members of the Nicaraguan Army continue to search for the former minister of the presidency, Jose Antonio Lacayo, who along with two American businessmen and a pilot in an air accident as they flew over the San Juan River region," the daily La Prensa said.

The crash occurred around 5:30 a.m. local time near the country's southern border with Costa Rica, as the Bell 206 helicopter was taking its passengers on a working visit of area plantations, the daily said.

Lacayo is CEO of the firm Tico Fruit, "the largest producer of oranges in Central America," and he was accompanied by James Scott Horrosberger, president of purchasing for the Coca Cola Company, "one of the leading buyers" of the fruit, according to La Prensa.

The body of the third passenger was found and identified as a manager of a company that distributes and sells fruit juice in Tampa, Florida.
