Euro 2016 to be held as planned in France

Euro 2016 will not be cancelled in France, despite the series of terrorist attacks in Paris last week, French Sports Minister Patrick Kanner said on Tuesday.

  "Sport should in no circumstances be stopped by terrorism," said Kanner, who was at Friday's match at the national stadium between France and Germany when the attack happened in Paris.

   Europe's football governing body UEFA on Monday reaffirmed that Euro 2016 will remain in France.

   "The Euro final draw will go ahead as scheduled on Dec. 12 at the Palais des Congres in Paris and the final tournament will be played in France from June 10 to July 10, 2016," a UEFA statement said.

   On Saturday, Euro 2016 chief Jacques Lambert said the Euro 2016 finals in France should not be cancelled even though the risk levels have gone up after the deadly attacks in Paris.  Endi
