1st LD: Russian plane's crash in Egypt caused by terrorist attack: FSB

Xinhua, November 17, 2015 Adjust font size:

Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) on Tuesday announced that the Oct. 31 plane crash in Egypt's Sinai Peninsula was the result of terrorist attack.

"One can say that it was a terrorist act," the FSB chief Alexander Bortnikov said at a meeting chaired by Russian President Vladimir Putin, which is dedicated to the outcome of the plane crash investigation.

"According to our experts, an improvised bomb equivalent up to one kilogram of TNT exploded on board of the aircraft in flight, resulting in it falling to pieces in the air, which explains the dispersion of the cabin parts in a large area," RIA Novosti news agency quoted Bortnikov as saying.

Putin ordered all Russian security services to find and punish the terrorists involved in the crash, "no matter where they are hiding." The FSB offered a reward of 50 million U.S. dollars for information about those responsible for A321 plane crash. Endi
