About 17 Taliban militants have been killed amid operations conducted by Afghan security forces, the Interior Ministry said on Tuesday.

"In the past 24 hours, Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF) conducted several anti-terrorism operations in Nangarhar, Badakhshan, Kandahar, Uruzgan, Paktika, Herat and Helmand provinces. As a result 17 armed insurgents were killed, three wounded and two others were arrested by the ANSF," the ministry said in a statement providing daily operational updates.

The ANSF also discovered and confiscated light and heavy rounds ammunition, the statement added.
