Myanmar parliament speaker responds to Aung San Suu Kyi's call for dialogue

Myanmar's current Parliament Speaker U Shwe Mann has accepted Chairperson of the election-winning National League for Democracy (NLD) Aung San Suu Kyi's call for a meeting with him, parliament sources said Sunday.
In reply to Suu Kyi's Wednesday letter calling for a dialogue on the basis of national reconciliation, U Shwe Mann set the date for next Thursday for the gathering at the Office of the Union Parliament in Nay Pyi Taw, according to a statement of the parliament speaker.
U Shwe Mann has voiced cooperation with Suu Kyi in building a politically stable, peaceful, prosperous and developed country.
Aung San Suu Kyi also made the same call separately to President U Thein Sein, Parliament Speaker U Shwe Mann and Commander-in-Chief of the Defense Services Senior-General Min Aung Hlaing to talks on camly implementing the desire of the people expressed through last Sunday's general election.
U Thein Sein has extended congratulation to Suu Kyi, thanking NLD for rendering cooperation to enable peaceful holding of the election.
The Myanmar government has pledged to work in cooperation with all stakeholders to enable stability and peace in the post-election period, according to an announcement of the President's Office
Senior-General Min Aung Hlaing has also pledged that the armed forces will work with the new emerging government of next term and for the stability, tranquility and development of the country.
He said no matter which government takes power, the armed forces will strive to become a standard army and back multi-party system.
In the Nov. 8 general election,the NLD dominated the absolute majority of the parliamentary seats enough to form a government independently, according to the election results.
Suu Kyi herself also won as a representative re-elected to the House of Representatives (Lower House) of the next parliament. Endit
