Coach Dunga calls upon youngster Jemerson for Brazil vs Peru

Xinhua, November 15, 2015 Adjust font size:

Brazil's coach Carlos Verri 'Dunga' called upon central defender Jemerson, from Atletico Mineiro, on Saturday for the team's fourth match in the World Cup Russia 2018 South America Qualifiers against Peru on Tuesday.

The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) said Jemerson was called upon to replace David Luiz, from Paris Saint Germain, who was sent off during the 1-1 draw with Argentina in Buenos Aires' Monumental Stadium on Friday.

Brazil's main central defender and vice-captain was shown a yellow card for hitting Dybala's face with his arm and then two minutes later he was given the red card after stamping on Biglia's leg.

Dunga told local media after the match that he thought Luiz's punishment was fair.

"What happened with David (Luiz) was due to the game. It was a tense and nervous match," said Dunga.

Gil, from Corinthians, will most probably replace Luiz in the final line-up while 23-year-old Jemerson will have his first opportunity to sit on the bench and possibly play for his country during Tuesday's match.

The team returned from Buenos Aires on Saturday to be joined by Jemerson in the city of Salvador de Bahia where the South American side will later face Peru in the World Cup Fonte Nova Stadium.

Even though the match against Argentina was delayed for 24 hours due to the heavy rains, there will be no changes to the date of the match against Peru, according to FIFA officials.  Endi
