Turkish military kills 4 IS militants across Syrian border

Xinhua, November 15, 2015 Adjust font size:

Turkish military killed four Islamic State (IS) militants on Saturday across the Syrian border, local NTV news broadcaster reported.

The Turkish troops were patrolling along Syrian border in Oguzeli town of southern Gaziantep when they witnessed two vehicles moving towards soldiers with armed insurgents, the report quoted military sources.

The IS members fired at the Turkish troops after being warned to leave the area, the sources said.

The soldiers returned fire, killing four of the IS militants in one vehicle and the other vehicle fled.

Turkey has beefed up security operations against suspected militant targets around the country since Oct. 10, when two suicide bombings hit the capital of Ankara, killing 102 people and injuring many others.

Authorities said the IS was the prime suspect in the country's deadliest terror attack in history. Endit
