Brazilian Grand Prix: Hamilton leads practice sessions but not enough for pole position

Xinhua, November 15, 2015 Adjust font size:

Despite being the fastest driver in two out of the three practice sessions, Mercedes driver and Brit, Lewis Hamilton, was still not fast enough to take pole position ahead of the Brazilian Grand Prix on Sunday.

The Grand Prix which is the second last race of the Formula One World Championship 2015 will take place on Sunday from 14:00 local time (16:00 GMT) at the Interlagos track in Sao Paulo.

The 2015 season's anticipated champion's fastest lap out of his 16 in the third practice was one minute 12.070 seconds.

The practice sessions took place at the 4,309-meter-long Jose Carlos Pace Racetrack where Hamilton beat his Mercedes teammate, the German Nico Rosberg, in the first and third sessions.

However Rosberg was able to steal the second practice session away from Hamilton. His fastest lap in the session was 1:12.385.

Just like in the first two sessions, German Sebastian Vettel, who drives for Ferrari, came in third place in the final practice.

Rosberg and Vettel are both currently fighting for this season's runner-up position.

Each driver's official starting positions depending on their times in the practice sessions were decided upon on Saturday afternoon.

Rosberg took the pole position as his overall average time was faster than Hamilton's by 0.078 seconds, according to Formula One's official website.

Hamilton will start Sunday's race in second position followed by Vettel and then Williams' Valtteri Bottas from Finland.  Endi
