Germany has taken the necessary measures to ensure public safety, which includes increasing control of the train and air traffic to and from France by the German Police, said German Interior Minister Thomas de Maiziere on Saturday.
The stringent security measures also include that the German police should be better equipped, he added after the terror attacks in Paris which have left more than 120 people dead and more than 200 injured.
"Barbaric killer" had killed innocent people in an unimaginable way in Paris and that his heart was "heavy with grief," said the minister.
De Maiziere also said that the terror attacks were directed not only against France, but also against Germany.
"Even Germany has been in the crosshairs of international terrorism," he said, adding that the situation is serious.
It is possible that other assailants are on their way to the attacks in Paris, according to de Maiziere.
As to the report that a Syrian passport was found on the body on one of the suicide bombers, de Maiziere requested that there should be no hasty connection to the debate on the situation of refugees now.
So far, a provisional toll shows that at least 128 people were killed, about 250 injured, including 99 in very critical conditions, during the coordinated attacked that took place Friday night in Paris and its suburbs. Endit
