China's Xinhua, Argentinean Senate strengthen ties

Xinhua, November 14, 2015 Adjust font size:

The Editor-in-Chief of China's Xinhua News Agency, He Ping, met Friday with Argentinean Vice President and head of the Senate, Amado Boudou, on collaboration after the two parties signed an agreement in July.

Boudou received He in the Senate and stated that "every visit by a representative from China is a cause for celebration in Argentina, as it allows us to amplify bilateral ties and take them to new heights."

"The importance of our agreements is given as they help break the information hegemony imposed by the centers of power," added Boudou.

The senior official, who was also Minister of Economy from 2009 to 2011, added that such collaboration "permits each population to express its culture through local media."

In July, the Argentinean Senate and Xinhua signed an institutional cooperation agreement, in which they stated they would help increase cultural exchanges within the comprehensive strategic partnership between Buenos Aires and Beijing.

"The protocols are in place. We must now make them bear their fruits," stated Boudou.

In response, He expressed his appreciation for the reception and added that the agreements between the two sides "will help the Chinese people understand Argentina's reality" and vice-versa.

"They serve to strengthen the friendship and common understanding between our people," he explained.

In this context, He also acclaimed the "30 years of cooperation" that has existed between Xinhua and the Argentinean news agency, Telam.

He added that 2015 "was the year in which we began to focus on the details" of these agreements.

"Our agreements are very important ... as they allow us to know the news and the work of the Argentinean Senate," concluded He.

On Thursday, He met with Alfredo Scoccimarro, Argentine secretary of public communications, with both sides pledging to deepen cooperation as part of China-Argentina comprehensive strategic partnership. Endi
