"The Maze Runner 2" rules China's box office

Action-thriller "Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials" ruled China's box office in the week ending Nov. 8, pulling in 137 million yuan (21.5 million U.S. dollars) after it was released on Nov. 4.

Domestic rom-com "Ex-Files 2" came in at a respectable second place, earning 109 million yuan in the week after opening on Nov. 6, China Film News reported Saturday.

Third place went to "The Witness," with 76 million yuan in the week. The crime-thriller, a co-production between China and the Republic of Korea, has earned 197 million yuan since opening on Oct. 30.

Adventure film "Everest" landed in fourth place with 74 million yuan. The film was released Nov. 3.

Rounding out the top five was "The Last Woman Standing," a domestic romance, which earned 39.6 million yuan in the week after opening on Nov. 6. Endi
