Tension ran high in the West Bank on Friday as three Palestinians and two Israelis were killed in separate incidents.
Violence was more intense in the southern West Bank city of Hebron, where two Palestinians died of Israeli firing while its security forces were looking for a Palestinian shooter who killed two Israelis in the same city.
The two Palestinians were 22-year-old Hasan Al-Bau, who was killed by the Israeli army during clashes in Hebron, and 22-year-old Lafi Awad, also killed during clashes at al-Bireh near Ramallah, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry.
A third Palestinian, 22-year-old Mohammed al-Shalalda, succumbed to wounds sustained in Thursday's clashes with the Israeli army.
The ministry said that 65 Palestinians were injured on Friday by live ammunition, five critically. Dozens sustained injuries caused by rubber bullets and suffocation in the West Bank and Gaza.
Dozens of Palestinians participated in demonstrations that turned into violent clashes with the Israeli army. They took to the streets in response to a call for a day of rage in different Palestinian cities.
The Palestinian death toll since the beginning of October has climbed to 86, including 18 children, while 14 Israelis have been killed in stabbing and running-over attacks carried out by Palestinians.
Hebron is the epicenter of tension in the current wave of violence between the Palestinians and Israelis that is ongoing for the second month.
The same city was a scene of a shooting attack on Friday that left two Israelis killed and one critically injured, Israeli media reported. Israeli army said the attacker has fled the scene after shooting at an Israeli vehicle on the main road.
The Israeli public radio said a Palestinian has left his car and shot the vehicle. The security forces are still "combing" the area searching for the shooter.
The flaring violence between Israelis and the Palestinians was largely due to Israel's new measures at the al-Aqsa Mosque compound in east Jerusalem, a holy site to both Jews and Palestinians. Endit
