Polish Parliament upper house holds inaugurating session

The Senat, or the upper house of newly-elected Polish Parliament, on Thursday held its inaugurating session.

The session was opened by Polish President, Andrzej Duda, who stressed significance of Senat in his speech.

It was followed by the oath-taking of members of Senat and the election of the new Speaker of Senat.

During the election, 93 of 100 members of Senat voted for incumbent Speaker of Senat Stanislaw Karczewski from the Law and Justice party.

Karczewski is a doctor, a local politician in mazowieckie district and a Senat member since 2005. Endit
