DPRK denounces U.S. for mulling to re-list it as sponsor of terrorism

Xinhua, November 12, 2015 Adjust font size:

The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) on Thursday condemned U.S. conservative politicians for pushing to re-list the country as a state sponsor of terrorism.

According to the state news agency KCNA, an anonymous DPRK foreign ministry spokesman lashed out at the Subcommittee on Terrorism, Nonproliferation, and Trade of the U.S. House Committee on Foreign Relations for taking issue with its nuclear program in order to put it back on the list of state sponsors of terrorism.

On Oct. 22, a hearing was held by the subcommittee to discuss re-listing the DPRK as a sponsor of terrorism.

The spokesman, however, refuted that the assertions "are nothing but rigmarole of those steeped in inveterate repugnancy and hostility toward the DPRK," adding that the DPRK will remain "unperturbed" even if it is back on the list.

He also said that while the DPRK opposes all forms of terrorism, it will bolster its nuclear deterrent at a pace that is beyond the imagination of the United States so long as Washington retains its hostile policy toward it.

The DPRK was designated by the United States as a state that sponsors terrorism between 1988 and 2008. In 2008, the Bush administration removed it from the list as Pyongyang agreed to disable its nuclear weapons facilities. Endi
