General election in Slovakia to be held on March 5, 2016

Xinhua, November 12, 2015 Adjust font size:

The 2016 general election in Slovakia will take place on March 5, said Slovak Parliamentary Chair Peter Pellegrini on Thursday, an announcement that officially kicked off the election campaign.

Political parties, movements and coalitions must submit their slates by Dec. 6 and can spend up to 3 million euros (3.2 million U.S. dollars) on their campaigns. The election campaign will end with a moratorium that will begin 48 hours before the election date.

People will be able to vote abroad by post, or in any Slovak town or city, not only in their place of their permanent residence. However, they will need a voting permit to do so. Endit
