Refugee arrivals Slovenia surpass 188,000 people

Xinhua, November 12, 2015 Adjust font size:

About 7,550 and 3,430 of refugees arrived in Slovenia from Croatia on Wednesday and Thursday respectively, bringing the total number of refugees to have entered Slovenia to 188,000, police said.

The majority of Thursday's arrivals crossed by train into Dobova at the border region with Croatia, the main reception centre in the country.

Several hundred also arrived at Petisovci to the north-east, the Slovenian Press Agency (STA) reported according to the state police.

Meanwhile, the Slovenian troops are gearing up to put up razor fence along the border with Croatia for the "control the flow of the refugee".

The STA reported on Thursday morning that the presidents of Slovenia and Croatia, Borut Pahor and Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic, will hold a working meeting in Zagreb on Thursday, a get-together that comes amidst an escalation of tensions due to Slovenia's construction of a razor wire fence on the border.
