China's Xinhua News Agency vowed to further deepen cooperation with Brazilian media to promote the two countries' mutual understanding and cooperation.

The pledge came out of a meeting between President of the Xinhua News Agency Cai Mingzhao and Brazilian Ambassador to China Roberto Jaguaribe here on Tuesday.

Cai said facing the complicated international situation, media of the developing countries should strengthen cooperation to give out more objective and fair reports to help safeguard the interests of the developing countries.

He said Xinhua has a long-term friendly relationship with Brazilian media and called on media from both countries to further enhance cooperation to help promote the development of China-Brazil relations.

Cai also briefed the ambassador with the Xinhua-initiated media summit mechanism of the BRICS (a bloc embracing Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa).

Roberto Jaguaribe hailed the summit as an important platform to promote exchanges between the BRICS media, saying he hoped the media of Brazil and China could conduct closer cooperation to contribute to the development of the bilateral relations. Endi
