Germany's benchmark DAX index loses 1.57 pct on Monday

The benchmark DAX index at Frankfurt Stock Exchange on Monday went down by over 170 points and closed at 10,815.45 points.

Speculation about an imminent rate hike of the Federal Reserve is running high and the blue-chip index slipped by 172.58 points, or 1.57 percent.

ThyssenKrupp AG and Infineon Technologies AG, a semiconductor producer, managed to rise, up by 1.77 percent and 0.27 percent.

On the other hand, Continental AG lost 5.29 percent. The utilities company RWE AG St plunged by 3.96 percent. Vonovia SE, a residential real estate company, slid by 3.29 percent. Fresenius Medical Care AG & Co. declined by 3.2 percent and Deutsche Lufthansa AG went down by 3.12 percent.

The turnover stood at 3 billion euros (around 3.22 billion U.S. dollars). Daimler AG was the most traded share of the day with a turnover of 234.09 million euros (around 251.34 million U.S. dollars). Endit
