1 dead, 2 injured in shooting at midtown Manhattan

Xinhua, November 9, 2015 Adjust font size:

One man was shot dead and two others wounded in a shooting at midtown Manhattan early Monday morning, police said.

The shooting happened just after 6 a.m. (1000 GMT) at the entrance of the subway station at West 35th Street and Eighth Avenue, by Pennsylvania Station.

There was an argument in the nearby McDonald's between several individuals who were sitting having coffee when another individual with a black hoodie approached them, made some conversation and then left, Chief of Detectives Robert Boyce told reporters near the scene.

Those individuals then walked out of the McDonald's and into the subway station. Then that same man followed them to the bottom of the subway stairs, pulled out a gun and started shooting.

All the victims are Hispanic, police said. The victim who was killed was a 43-year-old man. A 45-year-old man was shot in the neck and a 48-year-old man was shot in the leg, both of whom are being treated in hospital.

The area around the subway entrance has been sealed off by police. Officers are questioning people who were inside the subway and inside the McDonald's. Police are also looking for a silver sedan that fled the scene. Endi
