Chinese discus thrower Li upgraded to 2012 Olympic silver

Xinhua, November 9, 2015 Adjust font size:

Chinese discus thrower Li Yanfeng will receive a 2012 Olympic silver medal that was stripped from a Russian athlete for doping.

The Chinese Olympic Committee said a special ceremony will be held in the near future to present Li the medal.

Li, 36, finished third at the London Games with Sandra Perkovic of Croatia taking the gold and Russia's Darya Pishchalnikova taking the silver. But Li has been upgraded after Pishchalnikova was banned for 10 years in 2013 for testing positive for the anabolic steroid oxandrolone in May 2012. Endi
