Battle kills 3, wounds 11 in northern Afghan province

Three militants have been killed and 11 others sustained injuries as clash flared up in Afghanistan's northern Baghlan province, provincial police spokesman Zabihullah Shija said on Monday.

"The security forces launched cleanup operation in Dand-e-Shahabudin on Sunday and so far three Taliban rebels have been killed and eight others injured," Shija told reporters.

Three police personnel have also sustained injuries in the conflict which is continuing in the area, he added.

Taliban militants fighting against the government are yet to make comment. Enditem
