China's top legislator meets Finnish counterpart

China's top legislator Zhang Dejiang met with his Finnish counterpart Maria Lohela on Monday at the Great Hall of the People in downtown Beijing.

Recalling the agreement reached between Chinese President Xi Jinping and Finnish President Sauli Vainamo Niinisto to build a future-oriented new-type cooperative partnership in 2003, Zhang said the two sides have since further enhanced political trust in each other, expanded practical cooperation and witnessed more and more people-to-people interactions.

As this year marks the 65th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic relations, Zhang suggested the two countries seize opportunities to boost cooperation and advance bilateral ties.

Zhang, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), said the Chinese legislature stands ready to cooperate with its Finnish counterpart to create a favorable environment for bilateral cooperation.

Lohela said the Finnish parliament will work to make a contribution to the relationship between the two nations. Endi
