HK chief executive hails innovation node launched by MIT

Xinhua, November 9, 2015 Adjust font size:

Hong Kong Chief Executive CY Leung on Monday welcomed a Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) initiative to set up an innovation node in Hong Kong as it would represent a key partner for global innovation.

He said the MIT Hong Kong Innovation Node would deepen the ties established by MIT and Hong Kong universities in pre-competitive research by bringing together students, academics and entrepreneurs from Boston and Hong Kong to co-create value for both communities.

MIT's renowned commercialization program and capability would also benefit Hong Kong and its cutting-edge technologies would inspire young people and stimulate innovations, he added.

Leung said the Innovation & Technology Bureau to be set up soon would provide more focused efforts to push forward broad-based collaboration with MIT and identify further cooperation opportunities both on the Chinese mainland and overseas.

Leung and his innovation and technology adviser Nick Yang visited MIT in May to exchange views on enhancing cooperation. Endit
