Visiting U.S. Army Commanding Lieutenant General Ben Hodges emphasized here on Sunday that "the relations between the U.S. and Poland are very strong." His visit is a part of Polish-U.S. military cooperation.
In a press conference Hodges said: "I am an optimist when it comes to the NATO Summit in Warsaw in 2016. The most important goal of the summit will be to demonstrate the collective voice of 28 NATO member states."
Hodges emphasized the U.S. Army engagement in Poland and in Eastern Europe. He said: "The presence of the U.S. Army in Europe is not as immense as it used to be, it does not have to be so immense, but our allies must fulfil the tasks they were given."
Starting next week, Hodges will visit Polish Army General Command.
Since 2014, the U.S. Army has continued several drills in Eastern Europe (dubbed Atlantic Resolve). As a part of Polish-U.S. cooperation, a number of U.S. air force, infantry and artillery have hold drills on Polish training grounds. Endit
