Roundup: Paksitan's KSE recoups losses amid better participation

Pakistan's Karachi Stock Exchange (KSE) recorded bearish trading activities as profit-taking at higher levels on final trading day of the week kept the market under pressure but overall market participation remained on the higher side.
The benchmark KSE 100-Index slipped by 0.08 percent or 27.84 points to 34,426.75 points on Friday when compared with 34,454.59 points registered on Thursday.
During the week that ended on Nov. 6, the main index gained 165.14 points although three out of five trading sessions ended in red territory.
The KSE All Share Index slid by 0.09 percent or 22.59 points to 24,044.75 points, the KSE 30-Index went down by 0.08 percent or 16.64 points to 20,554.88 points, whereas the KMI 30-Index fell by 0.17 percent or 95.99 points to 57,931.91 points.
During Friday's trading session, the key index moved in a thin band of 112.87 points as it touched an intraday high of 34,517.71 points as against an intraday low of 34,404.84 points.
Market volumes increased by 51.33 percent or 102.736 million shares to 302.886 million shares on Friday when compared with 200.149 million shares posted on Thursday.
During the week that ended on Friday, the top Pakistani bourse witnessed total volume of 934.335 million shares at average daily turnovers of 186.867 million shares.
Market capitalization reduced by 0.11 percent or 8.015 billion rupees (78.579 million U.S. dollars) to 7.310 trillion rupees (71.670 billion dollars) while trade value swelled by 15.64 percent or 1.720 billion rupees (16.864 million dollars) to 12.718 billion rupees (124.690 million dollars).
Among 341 active scrips on Friday, prices of 166 issues advanced, 153 depleted, whereas values of 22 other companies stayed unchanged.
TRG Pakistan Limited, Descon Oxychem (R), and Karachi Electric Limited were the top traded companies with turnovers of 37.270 million shares, 33.686 million shares, and 28.837 million shares, respectively.
Philip Morris Pakistan was the top price gainer with increment of 85.90 rupees (84.21 cents) to 1,835.90 rupees (17.99 dollars) while on the flip side Nestle Pakistan XD led the major price shedders with decrement of 290 rupees (2.84 dollars) to 9,010 rupees (88.33 dollars). Enditem
