Morocco, U.S. call for reinforcing int'l co-op against transnational crime

Morocco and the United States called for reinforcing international cooperation to fight against all forms of transnational crime on Thursday.
Speaking at a workshop on international judicial cooperation sponsored by the U.S. Department of Justice, Moroccan Minister of Justice and Liberties Mustapha Ramid stressed the need for the federation of international efforts to fight against transnational crime.
He added that the fight requires implementation of a criminal policy that would address all negative impacts of such crimes, the adoption of a comprehensive approach as well as the strengthening of international cooperation.
For her part, U.S. Attorney General Loretta E. Lynch noted that the fight against terrorism cannot be achieved by a single country, calling for concerned countries to help each other and strengthen cooperation.
She also stressed that her department is ready to work with all countries in the fight against transnational crime, calling for vigilance against increasing threats.
The workshop, in partnership with the International Institute for Justice, brought together participants from 14 countries to share experiences on judicial cooperation and discuss international efforts in this regard. Endit
