Jordan will continue to defend al-Aqsa Mosque

Xinhua, November 6, 2015 Adjust font size:

Jordan on Thursday said it will continue its role in preserving al-Aqsa Mosque as well as defending the holy sites in east Jerusalem, the state-run Petra news agency reported.

At a meeting with Israeli Knesset members, Jordanian Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour said Jordan places the Palestinian issue on tops of its agenda, stressing that the kingdom exerts continued efforts to defend the Palestinian issue at regional and international arenas.

Jordan, which signed a peace deal with Israel in 1994, oversees the holy Islamic and Christian sites in east Jerusalem.

"We will continue to coordinate with Jordan and we have high hopes for Jordan's role in defending Jerusalem and al-Aqsa Mosque," a member of the Knesset Ahmed Teibi, who headed the delegation, said at the meeting with Ensour. Endit
