Xinhua, November 5, 2015 Adjust font size:

The Union Election Commission (UEC) will take the sole source of the results of the upcoming general election slated for Sunday, official media reported Thursday.

Meeting with local broadcasting media in Nay Pyi Taw, the commission's chairman U Tin Aye said that the information on individuals' victory or loss posted on social media networks after the election should not be regarded as confirmation.

Final scrutiny of results will be done by the commission before it officially issues to the public.

The commission will open two information centers at Yangon's Myanmar Peace Center and Nay Pyi Taw's UEC Office for the release of initial results of the election obtained from polling stations nationwide daily until it is officially announced by the commission.

A total of 6,039 candidates involving 91 political parties and 310 independent runners will compete for more than 1,000 parliamentary seats in the election.

There are 32 million eligible voters in the country. Endit
