Egypt says airports secure, "no evidence" Russian airliner downed by bomb

Xinhua, November 5, 2015 Adjust font size:

Egyptian Civil Aviation Minister Hossam Kamal said Thursday that all Egyptian airports are tightly secured and international safety standards are applied, MENA official news agency reported.

"All Egyptian airports undergo periodical examinations by the Egyptian civil aviation authority and international inspection authorities," MENA quoted Kamal as saying.

The minister's comments came after Britain said that a Russian passenger plane "may well have been brought down by an explosive device" on board.

Kamal said the investigations are still going on and that there is no evidence that "confirms this hypothesis."

All 224 passengers and crew onboard the aircraft died in the crash in Sinai last Saturday. Endit
